Hi Jay! A lot of new kayaks have come out since I made this video. Yes there are lighter Hobies now like the Lynx but cost 3-4 times more (over $3K). There are also inflatables but then you have the hassle if pumping to inflate and then deflate after. When I bought this it was on sale for $500 before the pandemic hit. This one is setup to fish and I like it a lot. Nowadays I've been using my kayak skiff strapped with a 6hp outboard. I'll be posting the build soon. Tight lines🤙🏼🤙🏼

Hi Jessie! Ugly Stik Tiger rods make great Penn combos. I have a couple of Tigers paired up with Spinfishers 6500 and 8500. I upgraded to a Nomad PE 4-6 to go with the Slammer IV 5500. Right lines🤙🏼🤙🏼

Yo… I would NOT recommend using a Penn Battle 3 6000 for BFT as it only has 25lb drag. You will get spooled. I have not seen a 7’6 elite jigging rod. But the 6’6 elite heavy jigging will handle.

Yo I A! Yes you can launch an inflatable. The great thing about La Jolla Surf Launch is that you can drive up on the sand (4x4 vehicle is recommended). I would suggest to practice launching in a bay or a boat launch first.

@@damboo8476 the brand I use is Silk Ocean rated PE 5 which is 83.5lbs and it’s the thinnest out there at 0.33mm which is comparable to the same diameter as 40lb braid in other brands giving you more line capacity. You can try PowerPro Maxcuatro which is also super thin but not as thin as Silk Ocean🤙🏼🤙🏼
